The project commenced in 2016 and involved ongoing updates to the mobile applications to ensure their usability and value for Fracht’s clients.
The itCraft team’s main tasks included redesigning the existing iOS app, expanding its functionalities, and developing a corresponding Android app. In addition, smaller tool apps were created to provide essential tools for the logistics sector. These tools included features like a worldwide locations map, units converter, Incoterms 2020 reference, container specifications, transport and logistics dictionary, currency converter, world holiday tracker, time zone converter, local weather information, and useful links.
One significant challenge was the decision to create a new product despite the existence of an iOS version.
This required a complete overhaul of the layout, incorporating the brand’s values and style. Additionally, the technical team had to integrate external APIs for weather, holidays, and currency conversions. Ensuring a consistent user experience across the various tool apps while keeping the design coherent with the brand was another challenge.
The project was divided into two phases. The first phase concentrated on revamping the main iOS app, followed by the development of the Android counterpart in the second phase.
A completely new layout was designed to align with Fracht’s brand identity, and both versions were equipped with new features while updating and modernising existing ones. Analytics were integrated to enable Fracht to monitor app performance and strategize future growth. The team also meticulously crafted the tool apps to mirror the user experience of the base app, creating a seamless interaction pattern.
The outcomes were substantial. The new apps met the client’s requirements, offering valuable tools and functionalities to various stakeholders within the logistics industry. App Store Optimization (ASO) was executed, and the apps were translated into five languages, enhancing their global reach. As a result, the number of downloads surged, and customer satisfaction markedly improved. Fracht’s decision to entrust itCraft with this project yielded fruitful outcomes that elevated their technological capabilities.
