OASIS Diagnostics Oniry case study

The ONIRY device, the first medical device designed to quickly detect injuries incurred during natural childbirth.

Healthcare

OASIS Diagnostics, a Polish startup in the medical market, developed an innovative diagnostic device to assist doctors in identifying postpartum injuries. The ONIRY system is a certified medical device, certified under the Medical Devices Regulation (MDR), ensuring compliance with stringent medical standards. The company aimed to enhance usability with a mobile application that simplifies data handling and improves doctor workflows.

Client partnership goals

While the ONIRY device offered accurate diagnostics, its small screen and limited interface made it less practical for clinical use. OASIS Diagnostics aimed to build a secure, intuitive desktop application that would simplify device interaction, support multilingual access across global markets, meet the strict requirements of medical data security, and offer an easy installation experience for non-technical users. The goal was to strengthen the usability of the diagnostic tool and ensure the system could scale internationally.

Project

The development process began with a series of structured workshops to gather detailed user requirements and document key user stories.

Using Material UI, the team accelerated the design and development of a secure, intuitive interface. Feature validation occurred through demo sessions and iterative testing with stakeholders. After the successful launch of the production-ready app, the team continued to add incremental updates such as analytical charts for improved data interpretation. The application remains in active development to accommodate new requirements and user feedback.

Challenges we overcome

The original ONIRY device provided valuable diagnostic capabilities but presented practical limitations for day-to-day use by medical staff. Its interface was not optimized for handling data entry, report generation, or efficient patient interaction.

OASIS Diagnostics required a companion application that could securely manage sensitive data, operate across multiple languages, and be installed easily in clinical environments without dedicated IT support. Additionally, the application had to ensure compatibility with the device and support scalable integration with future AI components.

Solution

The ONIRY App was developed as a secure and user-friendly desktop application that complements and extends the capabilities of the ONIRY diagnostic tool.

It provides a coherent, AI-assisted diagnostic environment that supports medical professionals in managing patient information, documenting examinations, and generating reports. The application was designed to enhance usability, simplify workflow, and maintain full compliance with regulatory standards. Its functionality includes synchronization with multiple devices, multilingual support across 27 languages, secure handling of medical data, and integration with machine learning models for diagnostic assistance. The application was also designed with compatibility for integration into existing Hospital Information Systems (HIS), supporting data exchange and future implementation into clinical environments.

Results

The ONIRY App has delivered improvements across clinical efficiency, user experience, and global scalability.
